Surgery

I have an underbite, which means my bottom jaw has grown more than my upper jaw. Some people can have that fixed when they are younger using head gear, however for my case that wasnt possible. Under bites run in my family unfortunately it was bound to happen for me. Because of this I get severe pain in my joint right beside my ears which causes awful migraines and muscle pains. The only way to fix this problem is through surgery.

There is this doctor who posted some amazing videos on youtube of the different oral surgeries. These are the three types of movements that the surgeon will be doing on me. This may change once he does my "mock" surgery, he decides what surgeries will fix all of my problems and will be most ascetically pleasing.

Maxillary (Upper) Advancement with Mandibular (Lower) Setback Surgery
Since my lower jaw comes out farther than my upper jaw, in surgery they will cut and remove bone in my lower jaw so that it can be pushed back. They will also cut the upper jaw and they can push it forward and also tilt it to make sure that my bite closes properly.

Genioplasty
The surgeon will decide if this is necessary based on the look of my face after fixing my underbite. Sometimes when a lower jaw is pushed back they need to compensate by pushing the chin bone forward so that you dont look like you now have an overbite and it balances the face. Genioplasty is when they cut the bone on your chin and slide it forward.

Maxillary Impaction Surgery - Vertical Maxillary Excess
I have what is referred to as a "gummy smile" which means when I smile too much of my gums show and not enough of my teeth. This is also corrected by surgery.
